National Communications Officer for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, has been granted bail.

He was picked up at the premises of UTV, a subsidiary of the Despite Group of Companies at Abeka Junction in Accra, earlier today Monday, January 27, 2020.

He was arrested in connection with his alleged involvement in forgery and attempts to spread false information to cause fear and panic in the country, reports say.

Mr Gyamfi had earlier refused to honour an invitation by the police to assist in their investigations.

Scores of party supporters besieged the CID Headquarters upon hearing the news.

Some of the supporters described the development as disappointing and vindictiveness on the part of the ruling New Patriotic Party government.
