Private legal practitioner and Convention People’s Party (CPP) member, Lawyer Kwame Jantuah, has stated that the government should not rely on trainee allowances to motivate young people to improve themselves.

In a chat on Wake Up Africa with Korku Lumor, Lawyer Jantuah made this remark in response to a suggestion that the government redirect allowances from teacher training colleges to vocational and technical institutions.

According to the Lawyer, the government doesn’t have to offer financial incentives for individuals to pursue opportunities that ultimately benefit them.

Furthermore, the social analyst highlighted practical solutions to tackle youth unemployment. He emphasized that skill development is key to job creation and urged the government to implement policies that align the education system with industrialization.

“We haven’t been able to look at the unemployment sector to find out what really is the problem. Is it the courses that we’re doing or are we churning too much of one type of industry,” he quizzed.
