Seven-member NLA Board inaugurated to boost revenue generation

A seven-member Governing Board for the National Lottery Authority (NLA) has been officially inaugurated in line with Section 36 of the National Lotto Act, 2006 (Act 722).

The ceremony, held on behalf of the Finance Minister, Hon. Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, was led by Deputy Minister of Finance, Hon. Thomas Nyarko Ampem, who administered the Oaths of Office and Secrecy to the new board members.

The Governing Board will be chaired by Mr. Frederick Amissah, an economist and Technical Advisor at the Ministry of Finance. Mr. Amissah brings extensive experience in public financial management, macroeconomic analysis, and structured finance.

Other members include:

  • Mr. Mohammed Abdul-Salam, Director General of the NLA
  • Mr. Edward Abrokwah, Director of Revenue Policy Division, Ministry of Finance
  • Ms. Doreen Panyin Annan, representative from the Ministry of the Interior
  • Mrs. Helen Akpene Awo Ziwu, Solicitor-General and representative of the Attorney General’s Office
  • Hon. Faustina Elikplim Akurugu, MP for Dome Kwabenya
  • Mr. Gerald Baffour Awuah Bonsu, a presidential nominee

In his address, Deputy Minister Nyarko Ampem underscored the critical role the NLA plays in Ghana’s domestic revenue mobilisation strategy. He called on the Board to enhance efficiency in lottery operations and support the government’s broader developmental agenda.

Responding on behalf of the Board, Chairman Frederick Amissah expressed appreciation to President John Mahama and the Finance Minister for the confidence reposed in them.

The new board is expected to provide strategic oversight to the NLA and drive reforms aimed at increasing transparency, boosting revenue, and fostering innovation within Ghana’s lottery sector.
