A group of dissatisfied members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Talensi Constituency has openly rejected the nomination of John Millim Naabwomya as the District Chief Executive (DCE). They argue that his alleged strong links with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) could harm the NDC’s chances in the 2028 general elections.

John Millim Naabwomya’s nomination, which was made public on Friday, April 11, was soon followed by a fire incident that destroyed the party’s constituency office. The cause of the fire is suspected to be arson.

At a press conference held in Tongo on Sunday, April 13, the spokesperson for the concerned NDC members, Charles King Luu, appealed directly to President John Mahama to reconsider the decision.

“We are calling on President John Mahama to immediately withdraw the nomination of John Millim Naabwomya,” Charles King Luu stated. He emphasized that keeping Naabwomya as nominee could lead to division within the party and reduce grassroots support in the area.

The group believes that appointing someone perceived to be close to the NPP undermines the trust and confidence of NDC supporters in the constituency, potentially weakening the party’s performance in future elections.
