Tema ECG Supports communities with streetlight

The Electricity Company of Ghana is supporting communities in its Tema Region operational areas by providing streetlights to aid in better visibility at night.

The project is a corporate social responsibility one being embarked on by the power distributor as a means of giving back some support to the various communities and to make the communities safer at night.

The Tema Region ECG is doing this project in close association with the various Assembly Members in the communities as they can help determine the priority areas in the localities. The project is also seeking to replace faulty streetlights.

Sakyiwaa Mensah, the ECG Tema Region PRO indicated that “this project is on streetlights and not on pole replacements. In that, if there happens to be a weak pole, a streetlight will not be mounted on it and that pole will be replaced soon”.

Ms. Mensah thanked the Assembly Members and community members for their support of the project. “Some have provided open spaces for the teams to assemble the lights before fixing. Some have also provided them with water voluntarily and for this we appreciate”, she added.

Ms. Mensah made these comments on Tema based Plan B Fm.

The project started in Tema Region in October 2024. Some communities such as those under its Tema South District have getting the streetlights fixed. Other communities will be handled soon as has been scheduled.
