President John Dramani Mahama has delivered a stark evaluation of Ghana’s current state, declaring that the nation is in crisis due to severe economic challenges and widespread hardship.
Presenting his first State of the Nation Address of his second term before Parliament on Thursday, February 27, Mahama was candid about the gravity of the situation.
“I am sad to report that the state of our nation is not good,” he stated, acknowledging the unprecedented economic struggles faced by Ghanaians.
To address the crisis, he pointed to the upcoming National Economic Dialogue, scheduled for March 3rd and 4th, and the Finance Minister’s budget presentation on March 11th, which will provide a comprehensive overview of the country’s financial challenges and outline potential solutions.
Despite the difficulties, Mahama reassured the nation of his determination to tackle the crisis head-on, honoring the trust placed in him by the people.
“Mr. Speaker, it is not my style to lament and shift blame when confronted with challenges,” he asserted. “I have therefore not come here to lament on the state of our country, though there is much to lament about.”
