Residents of Ho and surrounding communities are once again facing water shortages due to a shaft failure at the Ghana Water Company Limited’s (GWCL) Kpeve Headworks. The breakdown, which occurred on Tuesday, January 30, marks the third such incident in recent months, disrupting water supply to areas that had only recently regained access.
Water flow had resumed about a week ago after a second breakdown, but this latest failure has left many frustrated and concerned about the long-term reliability of the supply.
Frustrated by the recurring issue, residents are urging GWCL to find a lasting solution. Some fear that prolonged shortages will severely impact daily activities and businesses.
“I received a notice that these pumps at Kpeve are damaged and so they are working on them. We have not had water for more than a month, and I have been buying water, which is actually affecting my schedules. I am pleading that the issue be resolved,” one resident appealed.
In response, GWCL has assured the public that efforts are underway to restore supply. A statement signed by the Regional Production Manager, Ing. Ransford Nii Djan Amoo, confirmed that engineers are working tirelessly to repair the fault.
