Withdraw Mahama as our mediator – Somalia to AU

The government of Somalia has written to the AU to withdraw Ghana’s John Mahama as a special envoy to mediate in their political crisis.

In a letter dated 9 May, the Somali government said Mahama’s links with the political leadership of Kenya – a party in the conflict – could cloud his judgment.

They therefore want the AU to set aside the appointment of the former Ghanaiam leader.
