Zambia grabbed a dramatic late winner to defeat Tanzania 1-0 in their Group Stage clash at the ongoing 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.

With both teams struggling to break each other down for most of the match, it took a moment of brilliance late in the second half to separate them. Zambia’s persistence finally paid off in the dying minutes when a well-worked move ended with a composed finish, sending the Zambian bench into celebration.

Tanzania had put in a spirited performance and came close to scoring themselves, but they lacked the final touch in front of goal. Zambia’s goalkeeper also made a crucial save midway through the second half to keep the score level.

The win gives Zambia a strong start to their campaign as they aim to progress from the group. Tanzania will now have to bounce back quickly in their next match to keep their qualification hopes alive.
