Police in the Ashanti Region have arrested four suspects in connection with the killing of a police officer at Manso-Nkwanta.
The four whose names have been withheld include two males and two females.
Corporal Bernard Antwi was killed while returning from duty at about 5:30 pm Monday.
At a press briefing, ACP David Agyemang Adjem said the command is pursuing other suspects.
The IGP, Mr Adjem said has deployed a special team to the area to investigate the development.
“This is a tragic incident but we will not relent. As a service, we will continue to discharge our duties.”
The police in recent times have become targets in what appears to be a new wave of crime across Ghana.
Early this month, a female officer was shot at close range in Tamale in the Northern Region.
Six suspects were arrested in connection with the incident and are facing court.
Another police officer was also found dead on Tuesday, August 20, 2019, in the Eastern Region.
Police have described his case as “unnatural death”, though police say they are investigating the incident.
