ACTIF2023 delegates arrive in Guyana.

The second edition of the Africa-Caribbean Trade and Investment Forum (ACTIF2023) kicks off in Georgetown, Guyana on Monday (30 October), focusing on consolidating commercial collaboration between the Caribbean region and Africa.

Being hosted by the government of Guyana and the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), the second edition of the forum is being held under the theme: “Creating a shared prosperous future”.

African and Caribbean heads of state, senior government representatives, business leaders, representatives of business associations, development agencies, multilateral finance institutions, think-tanks and research institutions from Africa and the Caribbean are attending the forum.

Some of the high-ranking speakers at this year’s edition include President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana Mohamed Irfaan Ali, Barbados Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley and Afreximbank president and board chairman Benedict Oramah.

The objective of the forum is to enhance inter-regional trade and investment between the two regions, building on the successes of the inaugural edition that was held in Barbados, in September 2022. It aims to enhance the growth of trade and investment between Africa and the Caribbean, including promoting airlinks, tourism, technology transfer, financial stability, food security, industrialisation and cultural ties.

It is being organissd in collaboration with the African Union Commission, the AfCFTA secretariat, the Africa Business Council, the CARICOM Secretariat, and the Caribbean Export Development Agency.

The inaugural event welcomed over 1,267 delegates from 108 countries, including participants from 50 African countries, 13 Caribbean countries, and regions as far away as Oceania.
