The Juaso Circuit Court has remanded 10 suspected national security operatives who were arrested for alleged extortion from small-scale miners at Asiwa in the Bosome Freho District of the Ashanti Region.
The suspects were seized and detained by the police in Konongo following an intelligence-led operation last Friday (17 February 2023). In court on Wednesday (22 February 2023), the suspects were charged with unlawful possession of military accoutrements and stealing.
A bail application by Defense Counsel Maurice Ampaw was turned down by the court. The lawyer was also ordered to properly file a written application through the Attorney General.
The court consequently remanded the suspects and adjourned the case to the 7th of March 2023.
