A Deputy Minister of Education in charge of Basic and Secondary Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, has wished candidates writing the 2019 Basic Education Certificate Examination(BECE) well.

Dr. Adutwum in a Facebook post implored every candidate to “work hard and avoid malpractices of every kind”.

“I also assure them that the Government assisted Senior High and Technical Schools are ready to accept them and mould them to become the responsible adults the State and their families want them to be”, the Bosomtwe lawmaker stated.

Over half a million pupils from 16,871 schools are writing the exams this year.

Out of the 517,332 candidates, 263,616 are males and 153,716 are females.

Private candidates had earlier written similar exams in February this year.
