Three more cases of the novel Coronavirus have been confirmed in Ghana’s Upper East Region, health officials say.

This brings the total number of cases recorded in the region to four.

“All three confirmed cases have been in self-isolation since they were identified as contacts”, the regional health directorate said adding: “Contact tracing has been initiated to identify all close contacts of the new cases for quarantine.”

The region recorded its first case on April 3, 2020 and have identified 44 close contacts whose samples have been taken to the Kumasi Center for Collaborative Research (KCCR) for further laboratory investigations.

Ghana has 408 confirmed cases of Covid-19 with eight deaths.

The virus has been detected in eight regions as at April 11, 2020.
