COVID-19 death toll in Ghana hits 568; active cases now 7,773

Three more persons have perished after contracting COVID-19 in Ghana sending the death toll from 565 to 568.

Per an update on the Ghana Health Service’s webpage the country has 418 new cases bringing the number of active cases to 7,773.

The data also reveal that 78,689 COVID-19 cases have been confirmed across the country since the outbreak was recorded in March 2020.

70,348 persons have so far recovered and/ discharged from various treatment centers.

This comes after the World Health Organization (WHO) cited Ghana as one of few countries across the continent that has been worse hit by the virus.

Already President Akufo-Addo has re-imposed tighter restrictions following a surge of virus cases attributed to the blatant disregard for safety protocols.
