A mass spraying exercise of markets will be conducted in the Ashanti Region today as part of measures to battle the deadly Covid-19 pandemic.
The exercise is set to take place in markets across the 43 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies in the Region.
Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei-Mensah said in a statement that a team of sprayers will be deployed to carry out the exercise adding that: “Markets will be locked-down to prevent all obstruction during the exercise”.
The Minister also allayed fears of traders concerning the chemicals to be used for the fumigation.
Ashanti Region is next to join the nation’s capital, Accra, which has fumigated about 137 markets on Monday.
The exercise will be replicated across the country in the coming days, a deputy Local Government Minister said in an interview.
Ghana’s Covid-19 count case stands at 132 with three deaths. One person has recovered with another in critical condition.
