The Ghana Premier League week six clash between giant Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC and Nations FC ended in a pulsating 2-2 draw at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex in Abrankese.
The game ended in a dramatic 2-2 draw game where goals where flurry in the second half after a dull first half.
An own goal and a late equalizer from Amidou Diarra for the home side saw Kyei Dwamena Michael and Steven Dese Mukwala leveling up for the away side.
The first half could be described as a relaxed period for both sides as chances were not enough created which left the game with little or no highlights at all.
Asante Kotoko’s 5th minute chance was narrowly missed by Richmond Lamptey whereas Nations FC’s chance was blocked from entering by Asante Kotoko’s left back Nana Banyin Amoah.
Coach Kassim Mingles and Prosper Narteh Ogum took lessons from the first half and produced a memorable second half with an end-to-end 45 minutes.
Nations FC took the lead on the 48th minutes via an own goal from defender Henry Ansu to set the game into light.
Prosper Narteh Ogum added bite in attack to ensure Asante Kotoko get a good results in the game by bringing on Steven Dese Mukwala and Kyei Dwamena who ended up getting the goals for the club.
Late into the game on the 85th minute, Steven Mukwala pulled parity for Asante Kotoko after pouncing on Kalo Ouattara’s blocked shots.
A minute later, Kyei Dwamena Michael sent the visitors into the lead with hopes of making it two wins on the road on the bounce for Asante Kotoko.
Referee Abdul Latif Qadir, however, awarded Nations FC a penalty kick which aroused the anger of the away team who started throwing objects onto the field.
The game was delayed for close to ten minutes after which Amidou Diarra slot home from the spot to bring Nations FC back into the game.
The game ended 2-2 to keep Nations FC home record intact since making it into the top flight as they are yet to taste defeat at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex.
Asante Kotoko are yet to lose a game after a 2-1 defeat at Bibiani on Match Day 2 and will be returning home for their game hoping to return to winning ways.
