The Eastern Region has been selected to host the 67th Independence Day National Celebration scheduled for March 6, 2023.

Lord Commey, director of operations at the Office of the President, led the national planning committee to inform the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs about the upcoming celebration.

The Koforidua Youth Resource Center was assessed for its facilities, and various sub-planning committees were formed at a meeting in the Regional Coordinating Council to ensure the celebration’s success.

Commey encouraged the region to showcase itself and seek private sector involvement for sponsorship, emphasizing the event’s potential positive impact on the local economy.

The official launch is set for February 1, 2024, marking the region’s first-ever hosting of the National Independence Day celebration.

This event holds particular significance as it marks the final Independence Day celebration for President Akufo Addo, concluding his two-term presidency on January 7, 2025.
