In-form Ghanaian attacker Ernest Nuamah receives Black Meteors invite ahead of Algeria game

In-form Ghanaian attacker Ernest Nuamah has received a call-up to play for Ghana at the U23 level this weekend in the 2023 CAF U23 Qualifiers against Algeria.

Nuamah has been a very good form at club side in the Denmark Superliga for the league leaders FC Nordsjaelland this season with consistent performances.

The 19-year-old Ghanaian versatile forward has played in 21 league games this campaign and has found the back of the net for the Yellow and Red Wild Tigers eight times with four assists.

The former Borussia Dortmund boss has now augmented the team with the inclusion of Abdul Fatawu Issahaku of Sporting Lisbon, Ernest Nuamah of Nordsjælland, Emmanuel Yeboah of CFR Cluj and Ibrabim Zubairu of Serbian-based side FK Jedinstvo Ub.

English-born of Ghanaian descent Kwame Poku who plies his trade at Peterborough United has also earned a call-up to partake in the last round of the qualifiers against Algeria.

They are expected to report to camp in Prampram latest by today as the team intensify preparations for the crucial games against Algeria.

 

Ghana will first play Algeria in Annaba on Friday, March 24, before hosting them in the second league on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at the Baba Yara Sports stadium in Kumasi.

 

The winner of the two-legged affair will qualify for the U-23 Championship in Morocco which will serve as qualifiers for the 2024 Olympic Games to be held in Paris.

 

Ghana missed out on the 2020 Olympics in Japan after finishing 4th at the U-23 AFCON in Egypt – 2019. The Black Meteors are yet to play at the Olympic Games since 2004 in Greece.
