A little over 500 children from 15 schools within the Atiwa East District of the Eastern Region took part in a parade at Anyinam to commemorate the nation’s 66th Independence Day anniversary celebration.

After an impressive march-past by the schools, Rabbi International School and the Anyinam R/C JHS were adjudged winners in the primary and Junior High Schools categories respectively and as a prize, took home a desktop computer donated by the Member of Parliament (MP) for Atiwa East, Abena Osei-Asare.

“It was a moment to reflect on our history and culture and celebrate our progress as a nation”, the lawmaker who doubles as the Deputy Finance Minister said in a post shortly after the event.

This year’s theme she explained, “highlights the need for unity and collaboration in achieving national development and building a strong and prosperous Ghana and together we can make a difference and build back for generations to come”.
