Minerals Consultant Francis Owusu Akyaw picked the number one spot in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) latest round of balloting for its January 27, parliamentary primaries in Juaben.
This was made known during a vetting committee sitting at the party’s regional office in Kumasi on Thursday (4 January).
His main contender and incumbent MP for the area, Ama Pomaa Boateng is number 2.
A spokesperson of Owusu Akyaw’s campaign team told journalists that his boss is ready for the contest.
“For now the battle lines have been drawn; we are leaving no stone unturned”, the spokesperson said.
“Picking number 1 slot shows that Juaben already has a leader and this will be replicated by the delegates in the upcoming elections”.
The governing party is holding elections in constituencies with sitting MPs.
Political watchers have opined that January 27 primaries could end the political ambition for some sitting MPs including the Juaben lawmaker.
