The Electoral Commission of Ghana will witness a massive shake up at its headquarters in the coming days.

The ongoing restructuring will see transfer of staff or alignment of departments and units particularly affecting legal, communication, procurement and I.T departments.

A deputy commissioner Dr. Eric Bossman Asare told Citi FM: “The commission has taken several reviewing activities and I can say even on authority that within the shortest possible time at most three months, we should have a well functioning communications unit perhaps it will likely be a public affairs department, a full department on its own with a director who will be engaging some of us in its activities.”

“Even [when] you go to IT, procurement, legal [departments] – there are several places we are looking at so some of it, when we conclude, they will be made public for you to have the full information,” he said.

Meanwhile information reaching the media has it that some key personnel at the headquarters are being transferred already.

The commission’s director of finance Joseph Kwaku Asiamah will be moved to the Ashanti region to head the  training center. Head of Communications Eric Kofi Dzapkasu will also be moved to the Volta region as regional director while his deputy Yussif Ayuba will be moved to a district office.
