So the Champions League final defeat in the hands of Liverpool in Madrid will continue to be one of the painful moments of his life as Spurs supporter.
As he tried to come to terms with the loss, his mother was the unlikely person who comes to mind to aggravate his pain.
But guess what?
She was in a state of ecstasy as the Reds walked over The Lilywhites knowing very well her son is a staunch Spurs fan.
