Several communities within the Greater Kumasi areas have been plunged into darkness after alleged miscreants attack a high-tension infrastructure installed by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).

The perpetrators reportedly removed bolts and nuts from the bases of one of the towers, resulting in the collapse of eight others along the vital transmission line stretching from Anwomaso BSP to Akyawkrom Substation in Ejisu.

The repercussions of this unfortunate incident have been felt far and wide, with a widespread power outage affecting numerous areas dependent on this critical electrical network.

Some of the hardest-hit areas include Bekwai, Awiankwanta, Kumawu, Antoakrom, Manso Nkwanta, Jacobu Samfo-Aduam, Ejisu, Onwe, Besease, Asotwe, Abankro, Baworo and its environs.

A police investigation has been launched as ECG officials work tirelessly to restore power to the affected areas and apprehend those responsible for this reprehensible act of vandalism.
