There are growing calls for action after the chief of New Akrofuom in the Adansi Asokwa Constituency of the Ashanti Region was arrested for allegedly attempting to sodomize a 17-year-old boy.
Nana Kwaku Amoah, 46, was arrested in the early hours of Monday by neighbours when the victim raised an alarm moments after the traditional ruler sneaked into his room to commit the act.
The suspect who sensed danger fled the scene but was later accosted by an angry mob who attempted to ‘lynch’ him. He was however rescued by local police in the area who have since detained him.
“Police rushed to the scene and rescued him”, a police terse statement read. “On the spot investigation revealed that the said suspect was found in the room of the victim [name withheld] naked and was about to sodomize him.”
The suspect, popularly known as ‘Nana Cool’ is currently assisting police investigations.
