Newcastle are interested in signing Ghanaian midfielder Afriyie Acquah in the ongoing summer transfer window.

Acquah, 27, left Empoli on June 30, 2019 after his contract expired and is ready for a move outside.

According to close sources to the tireless defensive midfielder, Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce is keen on bringing Acquah to St. James Park in an effort to stabilize his midfield and initial contact has been made.

English second-tier side Birmingham City are also on the tail of the Ghanaian and have held primary talks with his agent but the prospect of playing in the EPL might make them opt for Newcastle United.
