A Global Info Analytics survey showing Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as the front-runner in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential race with 43.5% support has been challenged by his campaign team.

The survey also revealed that Kennedy Agyapong, Member of Parliament for Assin Central, secured significant support with 23.5% of delegates backing him, while 18.3% of delegates remained undecided.

Speaking on Joy FM’s Top Story on Thursday, October 26, Sammy Awuku, spokesperson for Dr Bawumia’s campaign team, expressed scepticism about the survey’s findings. According to Awuku, with Alan Kyerematen withdrawing from the race and his team endorsing Dr Bawumia, the Vice President’s support should have increased rather than decreased to 43.5%.

Awuku stated, “Any polling that, for me, puts Dr. Bawumia below 75%, I will not treat it seriously.” He emphasized the campaign team’s belief that Dr. Bawumia can secure a 75% to 80% victory on November 4.

Meanwhile, other campaign teams shared their optimism. Dr Prince Amuzu, the spokesperson for Dr Owusu Afriye Akoto, noted that their campaign message resonates with delegates, while George Obeng Antwi, spokesperson for the Addai Nimoh campaign team, expressed confidence that their candidate would emerge victorious.

Regarding the survey, George Obeng Antwi stated, “We cannot go by the polls because we do not know who they interviewed.” He remained confident that Addai Nimoh would gain strong support in the NPP presidential race.
