One person has been confirmed dead while two others are battling for their lives after a tragic accident occurred at Bereku, along the Accra-Kumasi Highway on Saturday.

The accident was reported after a Toyota Yaris with registration number AS 6890-20 collided with a tipper truck with registration GC 7952-21.

A statement released by the Ghana National Fire Service said the impact of the collision caused the Toyota Yaris to veer off the road, eventually crashing into a nearby bush.

It said rescuers from the Konongo-Odumase Fire Station promptly arrived at the scene to attend to the victims. They worked tirelessly to retrieve the lifeless body of the deceased from the badly mangled Toyota Yaris.

The two other individuals who were in the Toyota Yaris at the time of the accident were successfully rescued and immediately rushed to the Holy Family Hospital in Nkawkaw for medical attention.

‘Their condition remains critical, and medical personnel are doing their best to provide them with the necessary care’, the Service said.

The cause of the accident is yet to be determined, and authorities have launched an investigation to establish the circumstances that led to this tragic collision.
