A mentally unstable man who attacked a police station with machete in Akyem Kwabeng in the Eastern region of Ghana on Sunday has been shot dead.
Owusu, believed to be in his 50s, allegedly threatened to kill the officers on duty with the cutlass when he stormed the police station.
According to police report, he held the officers for hostage for well over two hours, prompting them to call for reinforcement from the SWAT team.
Owusu allegedly rushed on the five-man SWAT team who arrived to salvage the situation and almost slashed one Sgt Aburiga Louis.
Eyewitnesses said Sgt Aburiga in self defence shot the attacker who was pronounced dead at the Engresi Government Hospital.
The body has been depoted at the Police Hospital morgue for autopsy.
