The Ashanti Regional Secretary of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP), Abdul Salam Issa, has appealed to the Akufo-Addo administration to reassign Dr. Matthew Opoku-Prempeh aka Napo, to the Roads Ministry in the anticipated government reshuffle.
Speaking on Kumasi-based Pure FM, the politician highlighted the Manhyia South lawmaker’s competencies and leadership qualities, emphasizing that his previous roles in the Ministry of Education and his current position in the Energy Ministry make him an ideal candidate to tackle the road development challenges in Ashanti.
Mr. Issa expressed his sentiments, stating, “I am sure that with Napo as Minister for Roads, the perennial neglect of communities and areas that vote massively for the NPP would be attended to.”
He praised Dr. Opoku-Prempeh for his contributions to the education sector, saying, “We all saw what Napo did when the free SHS was launched with him leading the implementation and amidst the challenges that came, he, with total commitment, worked to weather the storm.”
Abdul Salam Issa also stressed the need to address stalled projects such as the Sofoline Interchange and neglected routes in various communities.
“I am hopeful that with Napo as Roads Minister, we in Ashanti would see the kind of road development that has happened in Accra and the Eastern region”, he stated.
The appeal for a reshuffle to move Dr. Opoku-Prempeh to the Roads Ministry is based on the belief that his experience and dedication can help address the pressing road infrastructure needs in the Ashanti Region.
