Two robbers, who mistakenly believed they had seized a bundle of cash, later returned and killed the wife of their victim upon discovering their loot was nothing more than a loaf of bread.

The incident unfolded when these robbers targeted a 42-year-old businessman, Raymond Suglo, and his wife in Jang, in the Nadowli-Kaloe District of the Upper West Region, around 9:30 p.m. on Monday evening.

Mr Suglo had just returned from his shop when the armed robbers, who arrived on a motorbike, confronted him and his wife.

The couple managed to retreat into the safety of their room, but before they could secure the door, the robbers initiated a struggle to force it open, all while their children remained in the bedroom.

During this scuffle, the robbers fired shots through the door, injuring Mr. Suglo.

Afterward, they forced their way in, demanding the couple hand over their valuable possessions, including Mr. Suglo’s shop earnings.

Puffy Package Misunderstanding

When the robbers discovered a puffy package inside a bag, stored in the safe compartment of Mr. Suglo’s motorbike, they promptly grabbed it and fled on their bike. This was before a heated confrontation between the man and the robbers, during which Mr. Suglo managed to injure one of the robbers on the face.

Wounded and with multiple gunshot injuries, Mr. Suglo tried to ride his motorbike to the nearest medical facility, but he collapsed on the way.

Good Samaritans came to his aid and rushed him to the Upper West Regional Hospital.

Reality Strikes

The robbers apparently only realized later that the handbag they had stolen contained nothing more than a loaf of bread, which Mr. Suglo had brought home for the family’s breakfast the next day.

In their frustration, they returned to Mr. Suglo’s residence but found him absent. In their anger, they shot and killed his pregnant wife, Mrs. Dorothy Suglo, before fleeing.

A family member mentioned that Mr. Suglo was informed about the robbers’ return to his house, but he was unaware of his wife’s fate when interviewed by the Daily Graphic.

According to the Medical Director of the regional hospital, Dr. Robert Amesia, Mr. Suglo was in stable condition and scheduled for surgery.

Local police have launched an intensive manhunt for the robbers and encourage the public to report anyone with a distinct facial injury.
