Ghana Premier League Champions Medeama SC have been given just $26.6k whiles Ghana’s Black Stars management committee members received $100K dollars as appearance fee.

The Ghana Football Association paid the management committee members of the Black Stars team as appearance fees at the 2022 FIFA World Cup tournament in Qatar later last year.

Meanwhile, the winners of the Ghana Premier League competition would have to at least win four titles to be able to make same amount of money as made by the Stars management committee members at the World Cup tournament only.

Medeama will represent Ghana in the CAF Champions League prelims in the upcoming 2023-24 season which means the club would need more money to make impact at the competition to at least get to the money zone of the competition.

With traveling across Africa a difficult thing to do, the prize money of the GPL may not be enough to cater for the club’s one trip depending on the location of the team the draw in the preliminary round.

Tarkwa-based club Medeama SC won their first ever Ghana Premier League title in the history of the club on Sunday afternoon at the Akoon Park in Tarkwa.

The Yellow and Mauves beat Tamale City FC 3-0 on the final day of the 2022-23 Ghana Premier League season at home to emerge Champions of Ghana for the first time.

Kwadwo Amoako scored the opening goal of the match to put the hosts 1-0 up early in the game with just six minutes on the clock with a fine goal to send the fans into ecstacy.

Jonathan Sowah scored the second goal for the home team after 66 minutes to make it 2-0 six minutes after the hour mark.

Medeama won the game 3-0 and reached the 60 points mark and five points ahead of Aduana Stars FC to lift their maiden GPL trophy.

They will represent Ghana in the elimination stages of the 2023-24 CAF Champions League prelims after winning the trophy.

This is the club’s third trophy after winning two MTN FA CUP trophies and one Premier League title to their name name.
