“School Fees” jailed 12-months for robbery at Zongo Development Fund chairman’s home

Francis Tekpor, widely known as “School Fees,” has been sentenced to a year in prison after being caught on CCTV during a robbery at the residence of Alhaji Seidu H Nasigri, Chairman of the Zongo Development Fund and legal advisor to the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu.

Tekpor, who entered Nasigri’s house in the early hours of November 11, 2023, spent approximately an hour and a half inside, stealing two laptops, six iPhones, and GHC3,600 in cash.

The convict gained access through unprotected windows on the top floor, allowing him to enter various rooms, even while Nasigri’s family slept.

Following swift action by the Anti-Armed Robbery Unit at Police Headquarters in Accra, led by Superintendent Augustine Offei, Tekpor was identified within 24 hours and apprehended within 72 hours. All stolen items, except one laptop, were successfully recovered.

Upon admitting guilt to charges of unlawful entry and stealing, Tekpor was convicted on his plea and sentenced to 12 months in prison. The court additionally ordered him to compensate for the missing laptop, valued at approximately GHC10,000.

Expressing gratitude to the Ghana Police Service, Alhaji Seidu H Nasigri commended Superintendent Augustine Offei, Corporal Hakim, and the Fingerprint Unit officers for their rapid and effective response in arresting and prosecuting Tekpor, bringing justice to the unsettling incident.
