A National Democratic Congress (NDC) communicator has allegedly been stabbed to death by his wife at Mampong in the Ashanti Region, party officials have confirmed.

Osei Yaw Akoto, known as ‘Borga’, 45, was discovered in a pool of blood at his home Thursday night but sadly passed away shortly after arriving at the hospital.

His wife, Abigail, admitted to the stabbing but claims it was not her intention to kill him, according to police sources.  Residents of Mampong, who were aware of occasional quarrels between the couple, expressed profound shock at the outcome.

The suspect is currently in police custody assisting police investigations. Crime officers have been to the home to manage the scene.

At the Mampong constituency office of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), party members and executives struggled to come to terms with the sudden loss of their colleague. They praised Akoto’s dedication and commitment to party activities within the constituency.

Kamil Mohammed, the Mampong NDC constituency chairman said, “This is shocking, and we are saddened to hear about the tragic death of our comrade. At the moment investigations have started and so we will leave that for the security agencies.”

The body of the deceased has been deposited at the morgue, pending preservation and autopsy. The deceased until his death was a branch youth organizer of the party.

He left behind three children.
