Four PRESEC students arrested in fake kidnapping sheme

Police in Ghana have arrested six individuals, including four juveniles who are students of Presbyterian Boys Senior High School (PRESEC) in Accra, for staging a fake kidnapping incident.

Among the arrested individuals are Isaac Kissi Adjei alias Kofi Black and Courage Teiko alias Timmy, who are the two adults involved in the incident.

According to the Ghana Police Service, preliminary investigations revealed that one of the juveniles conspired with others to stage the kidnapping to extort money from his parents for a supposed trip abroad.

They demanded a ransom of Three Hundred and Forty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH₵340,000.00) from the victim’s parents.

During the staged kidnapping, the perpetrators managed to collect Twenty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH₵20,000.00) of the ransom amount before being apprehended by the police.

In accordance with legal protocols, the identities of the juveniles have been withheld, and their parents and guardians have been duly informed about the situation.

Police investigations into the incident are ongoing.
