Chris Hughton, the head coach of Ghana, has revealed the starting eleven for the much-anticipated clash against Cape Verde in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

The Ghanaian tactician has chosen to exclude star player Mohammed Kudus from the Black Stars’ starting lineup due to fitness concerns. Instead, Hughton has placed his trust in the experienced goalkeeper, Richard Ofori, who will be supported by a sturdy back four comprising Gideon Mensah and Mohammed Salisu.

Baba Iddrisu is set to be the linchpin of Ghana’s midfield, orchestrating plays alongside Majeed Ashimeru and Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer. Taking charge of the attacking front is England-based forward Antoine Semenyo, who will receive support from the flanks by Jordan Ayew and Joseph Paintsil.

The Ghana starting eleven for the showdown against Cape Verde includes Denis Odoi, Jordan Ayew, Djiku, Richard Ofori, Gideon Mensah, Iddrisu Baba, Majeed Ashimeru, Joseph Paintsil, Antoine Semenyo, Mohammed Salisu, and Ransford Königsdörffer.

On the substitute bench, options abound with A.Ayew, Amartey, I.Williams, Lawrence Ati Zigi, Owusu, Joe Wollacott, Nicholas Opoku, Osman Bukari, Salis Abdul Samed, Alidu Seidu, Ernest Nuamah, and Jonathan Sowah ready to make an impact if called upon.
