The police CID has initiated a probe into the alleged murder of a three-year-old girl resident of Dagomba Line in the Asokore Mampong Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

The discovery of the lifeless body of Taslima Labaranon on Saturday (6 April) has also taken a new turn after an autopsy report confirmed that her tongue was not removed, contrary to initial speculations.

Reports say the little girl had been missing for three days and was found by children playing football near a building housing a few policemen. Her body was located on the top floor of the building, which was undergoing renovation after a recent fire incident.

Despite extensive search efforts by her mother, Rukaya Muntari, and the involvement of the police, Taslima remained missing until her body was discovered. Assemblyman for the area John Nketia who updated Asaase News on the development says the police are not ruling out a case of kidnapping and murder.

“The girl had been missing for the past three days and so he was discovered lifeless by a policeman who lives in the apartment housing these uniformed officers. Now the police have been investigating the case. Some of us think she may have been kidnapped by her attackers, but we leave that for the police CID to establish that”, Nketia stated.

“Again, let me place on the record that, it is not true that her tongue was removed. Now the post-mortem has been done and the body has been released to the family for burial, according to Islamic tradition. We have also been told that the full report will be ready on Monday”, he added.
