Residents of two major communities in the Kpone-Katamanso district in the Greater Accra region are heaping praises on the Tema Regional police commander, DCOP Mr Daniel Kwame Afriyie, for restoring peace and calm to the communities.

According to some of the residents, the two communities until recently had not known peace due to constant harassment and intimidation of land guards over dispute of ownership of the Kuberkrom lands.

“Since one Seth Kwame Sallah and a Setho Classic Engineering Company limited, a supposed Estate Company started laying claims to lands in Kuberkrom community being headed by the Odaitse-We Royal Mantse-Man Family around 2014, there had never been peace in our communities.

Property owners and developers were always chased and harassed by land guards allegedly working for Setho Classic Engineering Company limited. But since this Regional Commander took over the region, these activities are becoming a thing of the past”, a resident, Nana Kwesi-Ofori noted.

He disclosed that the residents are also happy that the Commander, D COP Mr Daniel Kwame Afriyie, has made it mandatory that anyone laying claims to lands within Kuberkrom and its environs must provide documents for the Land Commission to pick such lands and determine the real owners of such lands to prevent unnecessary land disputes in the communities.

He said, the Commander’s mandatory provision of documents, enable the Land Commission to pick the kuberkrom lands and established the boundary as to whether it falls within the Kpone Traditional Council land title as was alleged by Seth Kwame Sallah and a Setho Classic Engineering Company limited, or the Odaitse-We Royal Mantse-Man site plan as also alleged by other developers who acquired the lands from the Royal Family.

Maame Akweley, another resident, revealed that the Land Commission’s report made it cleared that the disputed land doesn’t fall within the Kpone Traditional Council as claimed by Seth Kwame Sallah and his company hence brought a finality to the dispute over the land ownership in the community.

She said, Seth Kwame Sallah who refused to accept the Land Commission’s report though, he submitted himself to the processes involved, went on rampage and accused the hardworking Regional Police Commander of turning his office into a court.

Some of them further noted that Mr Sallah openly accused the Commander and other senior police officers in the region of aiding land guards just because they refused to yield to his lobbying to allow him continue claiming ownership of the lands that rightly belong to the people of Kuberkrom.

However, they said, a recent judgment by an Accra Circuit Court, convicting the self-styled pastor, Mr. Sallah of Rhema of Total Grace Chapel Int. Church, located in Atadeka, and fining him 1,000 penalty units has vindicated the Regional Commander and his men in the region.

A penalty unit is GH¢12.00, therefore, Mr Sallah was made to pay an amount of GH¢12,000 or serve 12 months in prison in default.

The court, presided over by Samuel Bright Acquah, convicted him after he was found guilty on two charges of forgery of documents and possession of forged documents in the Kuberkrom community.

He was found guilty on Wednesday, 7, December, 2022 Thursday, but his sentence was deferred and the presiding judge ordered that he should be kept in police custody for almost two weeks before he was finally fined by the court.

They said his conviction has brought peace and calm to the two communities as his alleged land guards who were terrorizing developers and residents have gone into hiding.

“We have not seen him again after the court convicted him. His boys too who were a thorn in our flesh have also disappeared for now. So we are now enjoying absolute peace and calm in our communities for the first time

We are therefore, very grateful to the Regional Commander and his men and women for their efforts in restoring peace back to our once trouble-ridden towns”, Bernard Tettey said.

They have called on DCOP Mr Daniel Kwame Afriyie, to continue with his good works and to ensure that their recently found peace is not tempered with by any person or any supposed Real Estate Company in the communities.
