The Ghana Police Service has denied claims that it was conspicuously absent from the grounds during the commemoration of the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election violence by the opposition NDC.
It said it “provided adequate security for the one year commemorative durbar of Ayawaso West Wuogon By-Election, which was held on Friday 31st January, 2020 at the Bawaleshie Presbyterian Church premises, Accra.”
In a statement on Saturday, the police said it also had CID officers on the ground beside a 10-man military back-up.
During the durbar on Friday, former president John Mahama blasted the law enforcers for dereliction of duty due to partisan influence.
