Ghanaian politician Komla Woyome has released gunshots at the Black Meteors players saying the were money conscious at the 2023 CAF U-23 Championship in Morocco.

According to the Member of Parliament for South Tongu, the early exit of the Black Meteors from the ongoing AFCON U-23 tournament is due to the fact that the players were only thinking about how to enrich themselves.

Despite winning the first game, Ghana were destroyed and humiliated by hosts nation Morocco with a 5-1 hammering in the second match and a spinless performance against Guinea in the final game of the group stages.

“Black Meteors players were after money and not committed. The technical team led by the head coach (Ibrahim Tanko) were a bit lazy in executing their professional work,” he told Onua FM.

Ghana suffered elimination from the 2023 CAF U-23 Championship in Morocco after a 1-1 stalemate against the National Elephants of Guinea which means the team won’t have a chance to play at the 2024 Summer Olympics Games in, France, Paris.

Ghana last played at the FIFA Olympic Games tournament in Greece, Athens, about almost 20 years ago when the likes of Asamoah Gyan, John Mensah, Michael Essien, and Stephen Appiah all featured.
