Black Stars coach Milovan Rajevac names 30-man provisional squad for AFCON

Black Stars coach Milovan Rajevac has named a 30-man provisional squad for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations tournament next month in Cameroon.

The Serbian gaffer handed five domestic players in his 30-man squad for the pre-tournament camping in Doha, Qatar.


  • In-form Real Tamale United captain David Abagna who is currently the leading top scorer in the Ghana Premier League with 8 goals in nine matches gets a debut call up.

Accra Great Olympics striker, Maxwell Abbey Quaye who has six goals to his name in the ongoing Ghana Premier League also makes the squad for the first time in his career.

AS Roma youngster Felix Afena Gyan who turned down a Black Stars last month have again been named in the provisional squad for the pre-tournament camping.


  • The local or Ghana based players will travel to Doha on Wednesday where they will team up with the rest of the invited players

The Black Stars will open camp on Thursday, December 23, 2021, to begin preparations for the tournament.

The four-time Africa champions will open camp in Doha, Qatar .


  • Ghana will play three international friendly matches in Qatar to give Coach Milovan Rajevac the opportunity to assess his squad for the Tournament

The team will wrap up their test matches against African Champions Algeria on Wednesday, January 5, 2022.

Ghana is in Group C alongside Morocco, Gabon and Comoros

The Black Stars will face Morocco in the opening group C game in Yaounde on Monday, January 10.
