Former Ghanaian footballer, Asamoah Gyan, believes Mohammed Kudus should be the focal point of the Black Stars team, citing Kudus’s exceptional performances both at club and international levels as grounds for his recommendation.

Kudus, who debuted in 2019, has swiftly captured the hearts of fans, displaying his skills with nine goals in 26 matches for the Black Stars.

Speaking on Asempa FM, Gyan urged the national team management to devise their strategy around the 23-year-old midfielder, commending his adaptability and consistent brilliance.

“It’s evident – Mohammed Kudus,” Gyan affirmed when questioned about who should lead the new Black Stars project. “Back in my day, we had many talented players, and eventually, it became my time to shine.

“Now, it’s Mohammed Kudus’s time. He’s the standout Ghanaian player performing remarkably well in Europe, notably in the Premier League.”

“Even throughout Africa, he stands tall as the top performer in European leagues. It’s imperative that we fully back him.”

Kudus has made a significant impact in his debut season with West Ham after moving from Ajax. His impressive tally of 12 goals and 5 assists in 36 appearances for the Hammers during the 2023/24 season speaks volumes about his exceptional talent.

Gyan’s endorsement of Kudus stems from his belief in the young midfielder’s potential to elevate the national team to greater heights, given his remarkable contributions on the pitch.

“Kudus has showcased his abilities and promise,” Gyan emphasized. “He possesses the qualities necessary to motivate and uplift the Black Stars to success.”

“His performance in Europe demonstrates his readiness to shoulder the responsibility of leading the team.”

The former Black Stars captain recognizes that each era has its standout players, and currently, Kudus shines as the brightest star.

“It’s crucial to identify talent and provide the essential support to nurture it,” Gyan remarked. “Kudus has proven himself deserving of leading the team.”

As Kudus continues to shine on the European stage, Gyan calls on Ghanaians to unite behind him and offer unwavering support as he represents the nation internationally.

“With Kudus at the forefront, I’m optimistic about the Black Stars’ future,” Gyan concluded. “His talent and dedication will undoubtedly propel the team to greater success.”

In Gyan’s view, Kudus symbolizes not just a skilled player but also a beacon of hope and potential for Ghanaian football, inspiring a new generation of players to strive for excellence.
