Ghana’s Black Stars failed to beat Ethiopia in the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifier on Thursday afternoon in South Africa.

Ghana were in need of victory to pile pressure on leaders South Africa but failed to win the game as they threw away a one goal lead to draw at the Orlando stadium.

Ethiopia started the game very strongly but Ghana came after 10 minutes to stamp their authority on the match.

Andre Dede Ayew and Richmond Boakye Yiadom were both denied by the Ethiopian goalkeeper in succession from very close range, a chance Ghana should have converted.

On the 22nd minute mark of the match, Yiadom was brought down outside the box and the resultant free-kick was nicely converted by captain, Andre Ayew to give Ghana the lead with a sumptuous free-kick.

After the break, the Black Stars looked disjointed and allowed Ethiopia to dictate the pace of the game and operating freely in the middle without any pressures.

Getaneh Kebede leveled matters for the Ethiopians with a beautiful strike on the 72nd minute mark with few minutes left to play.

Ghana upped their game after conceding but it was a bit late as the game finished 1-1.

Ghana are now 10 points after five games and must beat the Bafana Bafana of South Africa convincingly to qualify for the playoffs spot.
