At least 78.9% of delegates in the Tano North constituency in the Bono Region will vote for Gideon Boako, the spokesperson to the Vice President, in the New Patriotic Party (NPP)’s parliamentary primaries.

The survey conducted by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB), positions Boako as a strong contender against the incumbent, Freda Prempeh.

The poll, announced on Accra-based Asempa FM, indicates that only 16% of delegates favour Prempeh, who also serves as the Minister for Water and Sanitation. Additionally, 5% of delegates remain undecided at this stage of the poll.

Utilising quantitative research design and computerised assessed telephone interviewing (CAT) technology, the survey focused on evaluating the candidates based on vision and competence.

Delegates prioritised these key criteria in their decision-making process.

The report highlights the delegates’ dissatisfaction with the incumbent MP’s inability to address constituents’ job-related concerns, leading them to rally behind Boako. Delegates trust in Boako’s competence to execute the party’s vision and mandate with confidence, anticipating his ability to secure a significant victory in the Tano North Constituency.

Interestingly, across all constituencies nationwide, Boako stands out as the sole aspirant challenging a sitting Member of Parliament and has taken a commanding lead.

The polls will be held on January 27, 2024 and nearly 700 delegates will cast their votes.
