In what has been described as a miracle, one of Ghana’s top legal practitioners, John Ndebugre survived a near-fatal road crash on the Kumasi-Kintampo Highway Tuesday.
Local media reported that Mr Ndebugre was on his way to Ashanti Region’s Kumasi after some legal work in Bolgatanga, the Upper East Regional capital when the incident happened.
His car reportedly hit the side of a truck in the oncoming lane and then veered off into the bush on reaching Dawa No. 2 a community which is about 30 meters away from Kintampo in the Bono East region.
Images seen by DailymailGh.com show parts of his mangled black vehicle at the scene — indicating that the vehicle may have somersaulted in the process.
“This one was a complete mishap and it was the tyre that failed,” the top Ghanaian lawyer, told online portal, citinewsroom.com.
Mr Ndebugre who sustained no injuries told the portal that: “It is miraculous. I didn’t have scratch. I didn’t have a broken bone. Just that I felt some pain in my neck”.
It is gathered that Police from the Bono East Regional Command organized and transported Mr Ndebugre to the Kintampo Municipal Hospital for treatment.
They want to kill me
It will be recalled that in mid-October, Mr. Ndebugre alleged he was being followed by some unknown persons and reported the case to the local branch of the Ghana Bar Association in Bolgatanga, for further action.
“Since I was instructed to represent the accused person in this case, I have had some indirect threats…When a lawyer is being enrolled he swears an oath to defend his clients without fear or favour… So where I have been instructed to represent an accused person and I am threatened and I withdraw from the case then I am in breach of that oath”, the visibly worried top Ghanaian Lawyer told DailymailGH then, adding that “if it is the will of God that I die through this case, I prefer that done than dying through Malaria”.
