The police in Kumasi have arrested a suspect linked to the gruesome murder of a 35-year-old man at Krofrom a suburb in the Ashanti Region.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Ghana Police Service Friday night.
Nana Osei Gyeabour alias ‘Point’, was arrested following investigations into a violent disturbance that resulted in the death of Kwabena Azure alias ‘Candy’.
“The suspect in the company of some others attacked the deceased victim, Kwabena Azure, on 25th January, 2023 and inflicted multiple machete wounds on him”, the security agency said in the statement.
“The victim was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at the hospital”, the statement confirmed.
Violence reported at crime scene
The police have also been detailing how some gangs stormed the crime scene and set the place on fire.
“Following the death of the victim, on 27th January, 2023 a group of people believed to be friends of the deceased besieged the scene at Krofrom where the deceased was attacked and set the place ablaze”, the police said.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) managed to put out the fire and Police have since restored calm, law and order in the area.
“Investigation continues and a manhunt is on to get the remaining suspects who are on the run arrested to face justice”, it added.
