A final year student of St. Louis Senior High School in Kumasi is alleged to have been sexually assaulted by an unknown man on campus, Dailymailgh.com has learned.

The incident occurred when the victim was studying in one of the classrooms at about 10:30 pm on Saturday, August 22, after the man reportedly scaled the school wall to commit the crime.

The attacker, who had threatened to kill the victim, overpowered her during a struggle, dragged her to a nearby bush in the school, and forcibly had sex with her until she became unconscious.

An official complaint was made at the KNUST District Police Command after the teenager who regained consciousness narrated her ordeal to school authorities for further action.

She was immediately admitted to the KNUST Hospital after a medical form was issued by the police for early treatment.

Though officials in the all-girls school are yet to go public on the matter, there are fears she may not sit for the rest of her papers as it appears she may spend more days at the health facility.

Dailymailgh.com has, however, learnt the students are in a state of fear following the incident

“We don’t walk out late at night because of the recent incident”, a student who wanted to remain anonymous told Dailymailgh.com. “And this will affect us because we live in fear”, she lamented.

“I make sure I am in the dormitory earlier. I could be the next target. It’s time the school took a second look at our security”, another said.

It still remains unclear whether there has been an arrest but the development triggered a security council meeting in the Oforikrom Municipality, where the school is located.

The matter has since been referred to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) at the Ashanti Regional Police Headquarters of the Ghana Police Service for further investigations.

St. Louis SHS had been in the news for all the wrong reasons recently after news of some teachers alleged to have sexually abused students, made the headlines.

Two years ago, an incident revealed by an advocacy group, Child Rights International, revealed how the students were sexually abused by a pantryman after he assists them to make calls with his phone.

He was later suspended for 90 days by the school’s disciplinary committee as he blamed the devil for tempting him to commit the act.
