Emmanuel Oppong, the first prosecution witness in the Victoria Dapaah murder trial, has testified, detailing an incident months before her tragic death.

Oppong, 30, and relative of the deceased, recounted how the accused, Inspector Ahmed Twumasi, allegedly assaulted the deceased.

In his testimony, Oppong described how the suspect stormed their home, attempting to assault Victoria Dapaah while she was having a bath. He claimed to have rescued the deceased and confronted the armed suspect in uniform after being alerted to the incident.

Oppong suggested that the victim’s rejection of Twumasi’s proposal for an illicit relationship led to the ensuing confrontation. The Defence Counsel contested Oppong’s claim, asserting that the deceased had never held a gun during private engagements.

Asked if he witnessed the shooting incident, Oppong told the court that he learned of the accused person’s identity from another source. He also rejected claims that the incident occurred during a blackout in the area.

The court presided over by H/H Rosemarie Baah Tosu, adjourned the case to 7 February for continued cross-examination.
