The hunt is on for a gang of suspected robbers who targeted the Jia Xin Industrial Mining Company in Akyem Akokoaso, according to authorities. A police insider revealed that approximately 15 masked assailants struck the mining company’s managers at around 7 p.m. last Friday.

In a brutal assault, two victims were shot, one in the testicles and another in the leg. As one victim fled, the robbers pillaged the premises, making off with a staggering haul of around GH¢1 million in cash, along with two valuable gold bars.

Both injured individuals, identified as Chinese nationals, were in critical condition and swiftly transported to a undisclosed medical facility for urgent treatment. Thankfully, reports suggest they are now stable and responding positively to medical care.

Amidst concerns over recurring robbery incidents, the Akyemansa District Police Command in the Eastern Region has stepped up security measures, providing round-the-clock protection at the mining site.
