Former Trades Minister Alan Kyerematen held a mammoth rally at the Heroes Park at the Baba Yara Sports Monday as the ruling party’s flagbearership race gathers momentum.

Mr Kyerematen said his unblemished record as a former cabinet Minister and his long decade of service to the party makes him the best candidate for the 2024 polls.

“I am here to seek your support ahead of the NPP flagbearership race… 2024 is going to be the most important election in the history of this country. And I am the best candidate to win the election”, Alan said while addressing the charged crowd at the venue.

“Let me remind you that we are a family. Let’s embark on a clean campaign because when we remain united we shall win the elections”, he advised.

Hundreds of delegates and party supporters clad in branded shirts thronged the venue and hailed Mr Kyerematen’s message of unity and hope.

One of them is 23-year-old Mary Asante. She is an NPP delegate in the Bosomtwe Constituency. Asante told dailymailgh.com that Mr Kyerematen has already won her vote.

“He spoke very well. Alan is a man of vision and these are the traits of a winnable and marketable candidate. This election is crucial and I think he is the best candidate to break the eight”, she said.

Visit to Manhyia

Earlier Mr Kyerematen paid a courtesy call to the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to seek his blessings as he pursues his presidential ambition.

A charged crowd thronged the Kumasi Airport to welcome the NPP stalwart, who had organised a thanksgiving service in the capital Accra on Sunday.

The supporters, some of whom were on motorbikes and clad in party colours led the former Trade and Industry Minister from the Airport to the Manhyia Palace, the seat of the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

Mr Kyerematen touted his achievement as a former cabinet Minister in the Akufo-Addo administration as he sought the blessing of the monarch.

Otumfuo

The Asante monarch also eulogized the immediate past Trade and Industry Minister, Mr Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen for exemplifying traits of a gentleman throughout his political life.

According to the Asante King, the Trade Minister had comported himself well in both private and public life since he got to know him.

“Since yours is a democratic political party others who also have an interest in contesting would also come just as you have come to seek my blessings but I urge you to be the gentle and hard-working man I have known and let’s see who God crowns as the flagbearer of your party’’, Otumfuo said.
